The City of Kalamazoo has been named as one of the 100 Best Communities for Young People. The 100 Best competition honors communities – ranging from small towns to urban neighborhoods across America – for their commitment to provide healthy, safe and caring environments for young people. Hundreds of communities in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands took part in the competition. more

Meet a Working Artist
Kavan Geary was thrown into the cold, cruel world of artistry through the type of corporate downsizing in Kalamazoo that has become a little too familiar for community comfort. But he brushed himself off and created a business to sell abstract nature photographs from his "Inflorescence Collection."
There have been bumps along the road, but Geary has managed to build a national reputation, and is doing better than he was when he had the "corporate gig," hitting financial, personal and business goals along the way. more
